The Warrior’s Way

Assisting James Acheson was a dream come true for me, as I had admired his work since first seeing Bertolucci’s “The Last Emperor”. It was my responsibility to bring together a talented group of local technicians to realise the costumes of a forsaken mid-1800’s Wild West town for his first job in New Zealand.

James allowed me to design the Sad Flute costumes worn by the film’s hero and his clan, a brotherhood of sinister Asian ninja warriors this costume was founded in the world of the ninja but pushed into the world of manga by the materials and silhouette.
